The first Race is on the 4th of October 2011. For TS Calendar select “TS Timekeepers and Race Calendar” from the Menu on the right.
Please read the following carefully. It contains Safety, Race and General information needed to time-keep and compete successfully this season.
Safety
It is recommended that all paddlers should carry a PFD during club events. Juniors (under 15 years) are required to wear a PFD.
Competitors are to render aid to capsized paddlers.
The Paddler immediately behind a fallen paddler must stop and render assistance. All paddlers following from the assisting paddlers division must also stop. You must remain with the fallen paddler till he has completed his return to the race or until the safety boat can take over rendering assistance. It is expected you can continue your divisional race. Allow time gaps in your restart to mirror when you stopped. This is especially important at each end of the season where daylight and cold water conditions can cause a paddler unexpected trouble.
Always try to swim to the closest bank, but avoid heavy weed sections. If you encounter weed remain horizontal and float across, never try to stand.
Always stay to the right hand side of the 8 knot bridge sign and all turns are completed in the anticlockwise direction to avoid collision with fellow paddlers and other river users.
A first aid kit will be available at the timekeepers desk.
Timekeepers will count all competitors on and off the water. If you retire you are to let the timekeepers know.
